Episode 11- Zoya Lynch / Ryan Proctor – Arcteryx Deep Winter Photo Challenge

Deep Winter

Zoya Lynch is the 2014 Arc’teryx Deep Winter Photo Challenge, “Queen of Storms”.  Deep winter is a 72 hour photo competition, taken place, within the bounds and operating hours of Whistler Blackcomb mountains.  6 photographers compete for the title of King or Queen of Storms by creating a 3-5 minute slideshow judged on the quality of the photos, the editing, themes and a handful of other intangibles.

I got to spend a couple days following the teams around with past guest and friend of the show, Feet Banks. We traversed the mountains collecting clips of each team’s Deep Winter experience in order to understand the full scope of the event.  It was fascinating being the fly on the wall and observing how each team approached each shot and how that translated to the final product, their submitted slideshows.

This episode starts off with Ryan Proctor from Arc’teryx explaining what Deep Winter is all about with the help of a few clips from the teams doing their thing.  Then Zoya takes over and tells her story of becoming the 2014 Queen of Storms!
