#37 – ANNA SEGAL – Olympian, X Games Gold Medalist, World Champion Slopestyle Skier
Anna Segal and I went skiing on Blackcomb right before we recorded this and it was awesome! It was quite possibly the best day we’ve had up there all year. It was even more fun because I got to show Anna a few zones she had never been to. This is because Anna is spending her first season here in Whistler and its almost impossible to ski everywhere between the two mountains in a season. It’s that big.
During our little Après chat we spoke about Anna’s experience at the Sochi Olympics where she finished 4th in Women’s Slopestyle. I know you’re thinking, “4th! Oh no”, but that wasn’t and isn’t an issue for her when you hear her explain the circumstances that led her there. Anna spent over two months in Japan this year working on the unique Tamashii project where the goal was to disconnect from social media as much as was possible and live in the moment. Anna is spending the season focusing more on just skiing and learning because as she tells us her competing career is finished and its time to grow and let her skiing take her different directions. Directions like finishing her degree, continuing to coach young skiers and staying open to anything positive that presents itself.
Here’s a great gallery of shots of Anna
